‘‘Macroalgae Current Trends and Opportunities Analysis Report” has been published.
This report, published by MMU, provides a comprehensive overview of macroalgae-based economic opportunities in Türkiye and the Black Sea Basin; addressing emerging trends, market potential, and key challenges for entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers. The report's findings aim to contribute to the development of the macroalgae-based value chain in the Black Sea Basin; to support policy development processes and new initiatives.
Furthermore, based on insights from academia, relevant industy, investors, and public institutions, the study highlights the strategic importance of macroalgae for the green and circular economy resources and identifies priority areas for the sector's development entrepreneurship, and policy support.
**The MACRO CLEAN project is a collaborative initiative involving Sinop University and Marmara Municipalities Union from Türkiye, Batumi State University from Georgia, and Shumen University from Bulgaria. The project focuses on conducting research and establishing pilot implementations for the economic use of macroalgae while preventing and mitigating the impact of human activities on eutrophication and macroalgal blooms in the Black Sea region.
