Call for Applications: 7th Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation

Applications are now open for the 7th Guangzhou International Award for Urban Innovation (Guangzhou Award), which recognizes innovative urban practices that strengthen social, economic, and environmental sustainability in cities. The award offers municipalities an important opportunity to gain international visibility and contribute to global knowledge-sharing on sustainable urban development.

Launched in 2012 by the City of Guangzhou, in partnership with UCLG (United Cities and Local Governments) and Metropolis, and in close collaboration with ICLEI, the Guangzhou Award has compiled more than 1,600 urban initiatives from around the world in its publicly accessible Urban Innovation Database.

Opportunities for Awardees:

Receive USD 20,000, a trophy, and a commemorative certificate,
Present their initiatives at high-level international conferences and events,
Join global networks that foster city-to-city learning and cooperation.

Application Process

Applications must be submitted online by April 30, 2026 (UTC +8:00).
Early submissions made by March 31, 2026 will be eligible to receive expert feedback to help improve final applications.
