MMU Contributes to UCLG’s GOLD Report
The GOLD series, first published in 2008 and released every three years, has addressed issues such as local government financing, access to basic services, the local implementation of global agendas, and tackling inequalities. The GOLD VII Multimedia Report brings together 22 inspiring examples of care infrastructures from around the world. Prepared with contributions from local governments, academia, and civil society organizations, the report covers care infrastructures at multiple scales, ranging from early childhood services and cultural programs to urban planning interventions and housing solutions.
Within this framework, MMU highlighted its Early Childhood at Home and Reclaiming Streets learning programmes. These two initiatives provide concrete examples of how care infrastructures can be placed at the center of inclusive access to urban environments, while also illustrating the challenges encountered during implementation, the solutions applied, and lessons learned. Both projects address different dimensions of care in urban life, developing inclusive and solidarity-based approaches for both children and city residents. The study emphasizes the role of placing care at the core of urban policies in enhancing social well-being and promoting spatial justice.
