Casablanca and Istanbul Sign Cooperation Agreement

Municipalities of Istanbul and Casablanca concluded cooperation agreement. The protocol which aims to develop mutual cooperation between Istanbul and Casablanca has been signed by Mayor Kadir Topbaş and Mayor Casablanca Muhammed Sacid. Tow mayors profited from the opening of African Cities Summit im Marrakech (Morocco) to solemnly sign the protocol in presence of thousands of local representatives from Africa and large Turkish delegation.

Mayor Topbaş addressed the 5th Africities Summit in the opening session, in his capacity of Co-President of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG). "We are voluntarily helping for problems in various part of the world. We are ready for helping to Africa as United Cities and Local Governments and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Resources of Africa are sufficient for development of Africa. Thanks to an e-mail, I became aware of a water problem in Ethiopia and I sent a work team to Ethiopia to ensure water for 1 million 200 thousand Ethiopians. Through this summit we are very pleased to be with you" he said.
