"Beyoğlu On the Way to Become Milano!"

Next week will be Galata Fashion Week, when famous fashion designers will be showing their new lines on the hill next to İstanbul's Galata Tower.

The fifth edition of the event, which runs Dec. 9-13, is sure to bring a festive atmosphere as always to the Galata area.

Fashion week allows visitors to enjoy and purchase designs by well-known designers at reasonable prices. Eagerly awaited, the coming fashion week has prompted Beyoğlu Mayor Ahmet Misbah Demircan to say, "Beyoğlu is on the way to becoming Milano!"

Galata Fashion Week is organized with the cooperation of the Beyoğlu Municipality and the Fashion Designers' Association. There are 27 fashion designers participating this year, and in addition, a new collection from the brand Twist is to be presented here for the first time. Visitors will also have the chance to sample new kinds of coffee from Kahve Dünyası.

Some of the more well-known fashion designers whose work will be on display and up for sale at Galata Fashion Week are Bahar Korçan, Arzu Kaprol, Hakan Yıldırım, Özlem Suer, Mehtap Elaidi, Cem Lokmanhekim and Gül Ağış as well as young designers such as Gamze Saraçoğlu, Simay Bülbül, Bihter Aida Pekin, Özlem Kaya, Özgür Mahsur, Müge Ersin, Rana Canok, Ayşe Deniz Yeğin, Çiğdem Akın, Öykü Thurston, Zeynep Erdoğan, Ümit Aybek, Aslı Güler and Nazlı Çetiner. Some other young names being watched for the future include Zeynep Tosun, Özlem Ahıakın, Beste Gürel, Yasemin Özeri and Zekiye Koçarslan.
