Visa Europe granted an award to Istanbul marine transportation company IDO (Istanbul Seabuses and Fast Ferries Inc.), an affiliate body of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, for introducing Pay-Wave Contactless Card technology in transportation.

The added value provided by this technology to banks, transportation companies and customers were presented to public in the ceremony held in 15 June 2009 in Istanbul.

The largest and most sophisticated urban seabus and ferry services company in the world, IDO became the first and unique company introducing the contactless card technology in the sector. Thanks to this technology, all foreign visitors and city dwellers having Visa Pay-Wave card may travel by just presenting their cards. Pay-Wave Card is introduced as a practical and fast alternative to cash and change and provides an opportunity to travellers to save hours, even days every year.
