Istanbul Public Bakery Inc. (İstanbul Halk Ekmek İHE), an affiliate company of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, received the Golden International Quality Award from Business Initiative Directions (BID).

Known to be the most comprehensive business quality competition, the B.I.D. Awards is based on the seven criteria that contribute to quality marketing success: excellence, innovation, customer satisfaction, technology, leadership, strategic planning, and business results. Each entry is judged against other entries in its industry category and then against an overall standard of excellence.

"The goal of Business Initiative Directions (B.I.D.) is to provide a forum to establish the standards of excellence for quality development and to honour the people and organisations responsible for developing the most effective actions that exemplify that excellence," says Jose E. Prieto, president of BID. "The Century International Quality ERA Award provides companies of all sizes and market segments an opportunity to earn a reputable seal of approval and leverage the marketing opportunities that come with winning an award. Additionally, many entrants receive quality feedback from industry professionals that can help them increase their effectiveness."

Candidates are elected on the basis of, QC 100 principles, ISO 9000, total quality management, job satisfaction, excellence, innovation, customer satisfaction, technology, leadership, strategic planning and business results as a result of the voting process in the BID World Congress. Along the many opportunities for companies to be honoured, the BID Awards recognize the individual and team achievements of professionals who create and maintain outstanding companies. Award winning companies are registered as leader in quality, giving importance to change, quality development, innovation, market development, and new product development in the category of their sector with this very prestigious prize. IHE is elected among the participant companies coming from 94 different countries. Awards were presented in a ceremony in 25 May 2009 in New York.
